Would You Come to Church With Me?” – The Simple Words That Could Change a Life
It’s one of the simplest phrases we could ever speak, yet perhaps one of the most powerful:
“Would you come to church with me?”
That’s it. Just seven words.
No seminary degree required. No perfectly polished gospel presentation. No debate or defense of doctrine. Just a question that carries eternal weight.
Too often, we complicate evangelism. We think it requires a platform, a microphone, or a deep theological arsenal. But in reality, it starts with an invitation. It starts with a relationship. It starts with your voice and a heart that genuinely cares.
Why are these words so important?
Because behind that question is the heart of the Great Commission. Jesus didn’t say, “Wait for people to come to you.” He said, “Go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19, LSB). Going doesn’t always mean crossing oceans—it might just mean crossing the street or stepping into your coworker’s break room.
These words open the door for someone to encounter God’s presence, God’s people, and ultimately God’s truth. They might walk into a church building for the first time in years—or maybe ever—and hear the gospel that transforms hearts. And you got to be the bridge.
As Christians, we should speak them often.
They should roll off our tongue like any other habit of our faith. Just like we read our Bible, pray, and repent, we should also invite. After all, we know what the church has meant to us—the healing, the growth, the family, the hope. Why wouldn’t we want that for others?
We’re not responsible for how someone responds. We’re responsible for planting the seed. And an invitation to church is one of the simplest seeds we can sow.
So who in your life needs to hear it?
A friend? A family member? A neighbor? A stranger at the coffee shop?
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Speak the words today.
“Would you come to church with me?”
You never know—those simple words might be the beginning of someone’s salvation story.
In Love,
Pastor Jody
