Tithing Again: Why It Still Matters
Let’s talk about something real. Something that’s easy to ignore or get defensive about. But something that matters deeply to God, and deeply to the mission of the Church.
Tithing.
Now, I know what some of you might be thinking: “Here we go again. The church wants my money.” But hear me out, not as a pastor asking for a budget boost, but as a shepherd caring for the spiritual health of our house.
Tithing isn’t about paying dues or earning favor. It’s about trust. It’s about worship. It’s about faithfulness.
Why Tithing Still Matters
In Malachi 3:10 (LSB), God says,
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says Yahweh of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.”
That’s not just a command—it’s a promise.
Tithing isn’t God’s way of taking from you. It’s His way of inviting you to trust Him. When you give your first 10%, you’re saying, “God, You’re my source. Not my job. Not my bank account. You and you alone.”
We don’t tithe because God needs our money. We tithe because our hearts need reminding of who really provides.
The Spiritual Impact of Giving
Tithing is one of the most tangible ways we can resist the pull of greed and live generously. Jesus said,
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21, LSB).
In other words, your money follows your heart—and your heart often follows your money. When you give to God, something powerful happens inside of you. Your heart softens. Your priorities realign. Your faith deepens.
And when we all give together, something powerful happens in the church too.
Why It Matters Right Now
Church, I want to be honest with you: our tithes are down nearly 50% of our budget. That’s not just a financial reality; it’s a spiritual wake-up call.
We can’t do what God has called us to do without your faithfulness. Ministry takes margin. Outreach takes resources. Discipleship takes investment.
We want to keep feeding families, reaching the lost, discipling men and women, helping the next generation know Jesus, but we can’t do it if we’re running on empty.
When we give together, we build together.
This isn’t about guilt. It’s about growth. It’s about a church rising up again with passion and purpose—because we’re not here to survive; we’re here to thrive.
What Happens When You Trust God With Your Finances?
Let me remind you: God is faithful.
I've seen it in my life and in the lives of countless others. When we honor Him with our first and best, He honors us with provision, peace, and purpose.
No, this isn’t a prosperity message; it’s a provision message.
When you sow into the Kingdom, you reap Kingdom fruit. It might not always be financial, but it will always be blessed.
So maybe it's time to tithe again.
To trust again.
To believe again that when we give to God, we’re not losing anything—we’re investing in eternity.
Let’s Build Again—Together
If you’ve stopped giving, start again. If you’ve never tithed, try it. Test God. Watch what He does, not just in your wallet, but in your walk with Him.
Let’s be a church that doesn't shrink back in fear, but steps forward in faith.
We’re not just called to gather—we’re called to give.
And when we do, heaven opens, the Kingdom advances, and lives are changed—starting with ours.
In Love,
Pastor Jody
