You Don’t Need a Voice When You Have a Verse
So many Christians are waiting on God to speak before they act. They say things like, “I’m just waiting for God to give me a sign” or “I’ll move when I hear His voice.” But here’s the truth: you don’t always need a voice when you already have a verse.
God has spoken through His Word. The Bible is not silent. It is alive, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Too many believers are sitting still, waiting for something mystical, while ignoring the very words that God has already breathed out.
A Verse is Enough
The Psalmist declared, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105, LSB). Notice that a lamp is not a spotlight. God’s Word may not tell you every detail of your journey, but it shows you the next step.
The problem isn’t that God hasn’t spoken. The problem is that we often don’t want to obey what He has already said.
Stop Waiting. Start Walking.
Imagine if the early church had waited around for a voice. They had Jesus’ words ringing in their ears: “You will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8, LSB). They didn’t wait for a second round of instructions. They went.
Sometimes we dress up our disobedience as “waiting on the Lord.” But delayed obedience is disobedience. When God has already given us a clear verse, we don’t need to hesitate. We need to step forward in faith.
God’s Word is God’s Will
We complicate the will of God. But if you want to know His will, open your Bible. The verse you need is probably already there.
You don’t need a voice when you have a verse.
Stop sitting around waiting for a mystical whisper. God has already spoken in His Word. The Bible is not lacking. The Scriptures are not incomplete. Everything you need for life and godliness is right there (2 Peter 1:3).
The question is not whether God will speak. The question is whether you will obey what He has already said.
So today, quit waiting for a voice and start walking in the verse.
In Love,
Pastor Jody

- Do you need to hear a booming voice from heaven to know you should forgive? No. You already have a verse. Ephesians 4:32 commands us, “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, graciously forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”
- Do you need a vision in the clouds to know you should share the gospel? No. You already have a verse. Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19, LSB).
- Do you need a prophetic dream to know you should flee from sin? No. You already have a verse. “Flee immorality” (1 Corinthians 6:18, LSB).
The problem isn’t that God hasn’t spoken. The problem is that we often don’t want to obey what He has already said.
Stop Waiting. Start Walking.

- Want to know if you should serve? Mark 10:45 tells you Jesus came to serve, and we are to follow His example.
- Want to know if you should give? 2 Corinthians 9:7 tells you God loves a cheerful giver.
- Want to know if you should love? John 13:34 tells you to love one another as Christ has loved you.
You don’t need a voice when you have a verse.
