We Need to Be Ready: A Coming Exodus from the LGBTQ Community
I believe we are on the verge of something most churches are not prepared for: a mass exodus from the LGBTQ community. Yes, you read that right. In the next five to ten years, I believe we will see thousands, maybe millions, of people walking away from that identity, not out of shame or condemnation, but because the emptiness they feel can only be filled by Jesus Christ. And the church better be ready.
The rise of LGBTQ identity, especially among the younger generation, has less to do with deep-rooted conviction and more to do with a culture of peer pressure and social contagion. We are watching a generation get swept into confusion because the world keeps telling them, “This is who you are.” And when they dare to question it, they are bullied into silence.
But here is the thing about lies: they eventually collapse under the weight of truth.
Many of these individuals are already feeling the pain of brokenness. Depression, anxiety, suicide, disconnection from family, and spiritual darkness are weighing heavily on them. They may not say it out loud yet, but they are searching for a way out. They are longing for peace. They are desperate for identity. They are hungry for unconditional love. Not the counterfeit kind that affirms everything, but the kind that transforms everything.
And that love is found in Christ alone.
So what will the church do when this exodus begins? Will we be ready? Will we meet them with grace and truth? Or will we fold our arms and remind them of everything they did wrong?
Church, we must prepare our hearts. We must dig deep into the gospel. We must preach identity in Christ. We must lead with compassion, not compromise. We must be willing to disciple the hurting, walk with the broken, and celebrate repentance with the same joy as the Father when the prodigal son came home.
This will not be easy. It will be messy. But revival is always messy.
And make no mistake, this will be a revival.
Let us pray now for those who are struggling. Let us build a church that welcomes the wanderer and anchors them in truth. Let us be the kind of people who reflect the heart of Christ, full of grace and full of truth.
The question is not if they will come.
The question is, will we be ready when they do?
Soli Deo Gloria,
Pastor Jody
