It Takes All of Us
One of the greatest joys of being part of the body of Christ is that God has called each of us to serve. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12 that the Church is like a body with many members. Each part has a role. Each part is necessary. And if even one part does not function as it should, the whole body suffers.
Church, I need to be blunt with you today: ministry cannot and should not fall on the shoulders of just a few. Too often, it is the same handful of faithful people running from one task to another, teaching children, holding babies in the nursery, leading youth, setting up chairs, making coffee, and greeting at the door. While I am grateful beyond words for their faithfulness, this is not how God designed His Church to function.
When you withhold your time and gifts, the body suffers. That means our children in iKidz, our babies in the nursery, SPARKS, and our teenagers in youth ministry do not get the full investment they deserve. It means those who are already serving are stretched thin, burned out, and weary. And it means you are robbing yourself of the joy of stepping into the purpose God has given you.
Let me say it plainly: volunteering is not optional for the follower of Christ. Serving is a mark of discipleship. Jesus Himself said in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” If the King of Kings came to serve, how can we, His people, ever think we are exempt from it?
This church will only be as strong as the people who are willing to put their hands to the plow. We have an incredible mission before us: to reach the lost, disciple the saved, and equip the next generation. But we cannot do it if only a few show up while the rest watch from the sidelines.
So I am calling on you, Ignite Church, to step up. We need workers in iKidz. We need arms in the nursery to hold babies and free parents to hear the Word. We need leaders and encouragers for our youth. We need people to help support our ministry for the disabled. We need ushers, greeters, hospitality, and prayer warriors. There is no shortage of opportunity, only a shortage of willing hearts.
Do not wait for someone else to do what God is calling you to do. The Church is not built by spectators but by servants. Let’s rise together as a body, each part doing its work, so that Christ may be glorified and the mission may advance.
It takes all of us. Not just a few.
