Easter- What is it?
Easter is one of the most important holidays in the Christian faith, celebrated annually in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a time of great significance for believers around the world, as it marks the ultimate triumph of hope, faith, and love over death, sin, and despair. But what is the meaning of Easter, and why is it so important to Christians?
The story of Easter dates back to the first century AD when Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was crucified by the Roman authorities in Jerusalem. He was buried in a tomb, and his followers mourned his death. However, on the third day after his death, the tomb was found to be empty, and Jesus appeared to his followers, alive and well. This event is known as the resurrection, and it is the central event of the Easter story.
For Christians, the resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate proof of his divinity and the fulfillment of God's promise of salvation. It is a symbol of hope and redemption, and it shows that death is not the end but a gateway to eternal life. Through his resurrection, Jesus conquered sin and death, and he offers salvation and forgiveness to all who believe in him.
Easter should also a time of reflection and renewal. It's through the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus, we have been given a new life, free from the burden of sin. It is a time to repent, to let go of old habits and ways of living, and to embrace a new life in Christ. It is a time to reflect on the love of God and the sacrifice that Jesus made for humanity.
May this Easter bring you peace, hope, and joy, and may you be blessed with the love of Christ.
This Easter, at Ignite Church, we want you to invite your family and friends to one of our two services. 8:00am and 10:30am. We would love for you to join us on Good Friday for a worship event beginning at 7:00pm.
In Love,
Pastor Jody
